Sabiha Gökçen Airport wins GIGI Award for Zero Waste project

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG) has received a silver award at the GIGI Awards 2026 in the Image and Social Responsibility category. The recognition is for its Zero Waste project, titled ‘Some journeys have no return. No to plastic.’

Developed in collaboration with the Istanbul Governorship and the Zero Waste Foundation during Istanbul Zero Waste Week, the project aimed to raise awareness regarding environmental consciousness, recycling, and sustainable living. The initiative utilized creative installations at baggage carousels, featuring transparent suitcases filled with plastic waste found within the terminal to highlight the long-term impact of single-use items like food packaging, straws, and water bottles.

The GIGI Awards, organized by the Marketing Communication Association, recognize innovative ideas, implementation success, and concrete social impact within the marketing and communication sectors.
