Sabotage Targets Danish Aquaculture Vessels in Reersø

In a week of extensive vandalism, several aquaculture vessels belonging to the Danish company Musholm were damaged at Reersø Harbour. Hulls were cut, a cable on a work boat was severed, and other technical equipment was destroyed. Edwin van der Zee, the daily operations manager, said the attacks strike at “our work and our lives.”

The incidents occur amid a heated public debate over offshore fish farms. René Christensen, director of the industry association Dansk Akvakultur, warned that the repeated sabotage may be linked to the contentious tone of the discussion. The company has filed a police report with the Midt- og Vestsjællands Police, which is investigating the acts as deliberate vandalism.
