Sabri Gülel reappointed as leader for Korkuteli oil wrestling festival

Sabri Gülel has been reappointed as the wrestling leader (ağa) for the 36th Korkuteli Altın Kiraz Oil Wrestling Festival after winning the tender with a bid of 9,777,000 TL. Following the 35th annual event, Gülel stated his intention to honor his father, Cavit Gülel, through this role and expressed a commitment to transforming Korkuteli into a day-trip tourism destination.

His reappointment is expected to support the continuation of the ‘Gelenekten Geleceğe’ (From Tradition to the Future) project. This initiative aims to integrate traditional oil wrestling with tourism to promote Korkuteli’s cultural values. Following successful pilot studies involving tourist groups and visits to the Oil Wrestling Museum, the project seeks to establish a sustainable structure for the region's cultural heritage.
