Sabudana Dishes Offer Variety for Sawan 2026 Fasting

Sabudana (tapioca pearls) remains a staple ingredient during the Hindu month of Sawan, when many observe a fast (vrat). Eight easy sabudana recipes have been highlighted, covering both savoury and sweet options: sabudana thalipeeth (a Maharashtrian flatbread), sabudana dosa, sabudana idli, the classic sabudana khichdi, sabudana vada, sabudana wadi, sabudana paratha and sabudana kheer. The dishes are described as simple to prepare, filling and energy‑rich, suitable for the long fasting periods. In addition, a separate recipe for a crispy Kuttu (buckwheat) dosa offers a low‑oil, protein‑rich alternative that requires no soaking or grinding. All preparations can be cooked by deep‑frying or air‑frying, and are paired with vrat‑friendly chutneys or mild spice blends, providing variety without breaking fasting rules.
