Sachsen-Anhalt hosts international children's literature festival

The InterLese reading festival will take place in Sachsen-Anhalt from September 21 to 26, 2026. Now in its 33rd year, the event aims to foster cultural encounters through international literature and engage children and youth in reading and writing.

Authors and illustrators from eight countries—Austria, Norway, Iran, Italy, Bulgaria, the USA, France, and Germany—will participate in various activities, including readings and picture book cinemas. The festival involves schools, libraries, and cultural institutions across the state.

Key participants include Austrian author Matthäus Bär, who will present his award-winning book series in Magdeburg, and Italian author and illustrator Simona Ciraolo, who will host a picture book cinema in Braunsbedra.
