Sachsen-Anhalt state election sees high midday voter turnout

In Sachsen-Anhalt, voter turnout for the state election reached 34.7 percent by midday, a significant increase compared to 22.4 percent and 25.0 percent at the same time during the 2021 and 2016 elections, respectively. State election official Christa Dieckmann reported a smooth voting process without disproportionate wait times. The election is closely watched as the AfD has consistently led polls, aiming for a solo government, ahead of the CDU and Minister President Sven Schulze.

In a separate political context, a recent Allensbach poll regarding a hypothetical federal election in Germany showed the AfD as the strongest force with 27.5 percent. The CDU/CSU followed with 22.5 percent, while the SPD and the Greens both recorded 13 percent. The Left party received 11 percent, and the FDP remained just above the 5 percent threshold.
