Sachsenring hosts inaugural Red Bull Trabant rally

The inaugural ‘Red Bull Rennpappe’ rally took place in Saxony, featuring 50 Trabant cars traveling a 115-kilometer route. The rally began at the August Horch Museum in Zwickau and passed through Chemnitz, Hohenstein-Ernstthal, and Mülsen before concluding at the Sachsenring.

Participants engaged in various challenges testing knowledge and skill, including ‘Trabant expertise,’ rapid tire changes, and dexterity courses. A major highlight of the event was a collective presentation lap by all 50 vehicles on the Sachsenring circuit during a DTM racing weekend.

Actress Claudia Schmutzler, known for her role in the cult film ‘Go Trabi Go,’ participated by driving one of the film’s original cars and serving as a jury member to award the ‘Golden Rennpappe’ for the most creative vehicle. Other notable participants included Olympic biathlon champion Michael Rösch, mountain bike professional Patricia Druwen, and DTM pilot Luca Engstler.
