Sacramento Kings host veteran workouts for Cam Payne and Elfrid Payton

The Sacramento Kings are hosting a series of veteran workouts to bolster their backcourt following the retirement of Russell Westbrook. The team is scheduled to begin these sessions on Thursday with 32-year-old guard Cam Payne.

Payne, an 11-year veteran who most recently played for the Philadelphia 76ers, is being evaluated alongside another experienced ball-handler, Elfrid Payton. Payton is entering his 12th NBA season and most recently split time between the Pelicans and Hornets before playing in the G League.

The Kings have also maintained interest in Victor Oladipo. Following the offseason departure of DeMar DeRozan, Sacramento currently has 13 players under contract, leaving approximately two roster openings heading into training camp.
