Sacramento man arrested for homicide after infant dies at fire station

A 22-year-old Sacramento man, Victor Weaver, has been arrested on suspicion of homicide following the death of a four-month-old infant. The child was brought to a Sacramento fire station in an unresponsive state on the morning of August 14, 2025.

After being rushed to a nearby hospital, lifesaving efforts failed and the infant was pronounced dead. An investigation by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office determined the death to be a homicide. Police reported that the infant had been brought to the station from a residence in the 1700 block of West El Camino Avenue.

While California’s Safely Surrendered Baby Law allows parents to leave infants up to 72 hours old at designated locations without fear of prosecution, authorities noted this protection does not apply to a four-month-old child. Weaver has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
