Sacramento State under shelter-in-place following reports of gunfire

Sacramento State University was placed under a shelter-in-place order on Saturday night following reports of gunfire near Parking Structure 3, adjacent to Hornet Stadium. The incident occurred during the university’s home football opener against Mississippi Valley State.

Following the initial reports, police responded to a separate shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning near Cucamonga Avenue and Ramona Avenue in the Granite Regional Park area. Three women were found with gunshot wounds; two were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while a third was treated at the scene. Shortly after, officers discovered a man with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds following a crash near Folsom Boulevard and State University Drive.

As of the latest updates, the Sacramento Police Department has not established a link between the Saturday night gunfire near the campus parking structure and the Sunday morning shootings. No suspects have been identified, and no injuries were officially confirmed in connection with the Saturday night incident.
