Sacred Family School reopens in Gaza for over 1,000 students

The Sacred Family School, managed by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, has officially reopened in Gaza, welcoming 1,005 students ranging from kindergarten to high school. This reopening marks the return to regular classroom instruction after nearly three years of disruption caused by conflict. The school's parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli, described the event as a moment of profound emotion for both children and parents.

In a broader regional context, Franciscan schools in the Idlib province of Syria, specifically in Knaye and Yacoubieh, have also resumed activities after being formally closed for over half a century.

The reopening of these institutions serves as a significant effort to restore normalcy and provide educational stability in conflict-affected areas. In Gaza, where UNICEF reports indicate that 98% of school buildings are destroyed or damaged, the school aims to provide a space for healing and community rebuilding.
