Italy experiences regional transport and utility service disruptions

Various regions in Italy are experiencing significant disruptions to public services, including transportation and water utilities.

In Milan, a strike by Al Cobas and Confial unions is expected to impact metro, bus, and tram services on Friday, October 9, with potential disruptions during midday and evening hours. Additionally, the Como-Brunate funicular may face service cancellations.

In Sicily, Siciliacque has announced water supply suspensions in several municipalities, including Enna, Calascibetta, Piazza Armerina, Aidone, and Valguarnera, due to an urgent repair of the Ancipa “Basso” aqueduct. The outage is expected to last approximately 48 hours.

In Sacrofano, Acea Ato 2 reported a water network failure affecting the “Filtri Aurelia” supply point, with water tankers deployed to assist residents. Meanwhile, in Alba, bus services are being diverted or suspended due to the Gran Piemonte cycling race.

Infrastructure maintenance is also affecting road travel, with Anas scheduling nighttime closures on the SS 28 “Colle di Nava” for tunnel inspections in October. In Cagliari, students have protested at local schools over rodent infestations and lack of running water.
