Sadaf Shamas replaces Najiha Alvi in Pakistan squad for Women’s Asia Cup

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Najiha Alvi has been ruled out of the upcoming ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup due to a left knee injury. Following medical assessments that revealed a possible sprain, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Alvi will begin a rehabilitation programme expected to last between three and four weeks.

Sadaf Shamas, a right-handed batter who has played 12 WT20Is since her debut in January 2023, has been named as her replacement. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Dubai, UAE, from August 28 to September 13.

Pakistan is placed in Group A for the competition, alongside India, Thailand, and Hong Kong, China. Fatima Sana will lead the squad as captain.
