SADC Parliamentary Forum relocated from Madagascar

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Parliamentary Forum plenary assembly, originally scheduled to take place in Antananarivo, Madagascar, from August 22 to 29, has been relocated to another country.

At this time, the new host country, the new dates, and the reasons for this last-minute decision have not been disclosed. The event was intended to bring together parliamentary representatives from SADC member states and was expected to be presided over by Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, President of the National Assembly.

Some members of parliament reported being unaware of the change. The decision comes amid a turbulent period within the Madagascar National Assembly, where questions have been raised regarding the timing of extraordinary sessions despite a decree being adopted in July.
