Sade Traditional Village reconstruction reaches 40 houses

The Indonesian government has reported that 40 out of 75 traditional houses in Sade Traditional Village, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, have been rebuilt and roofed following a fire in late August 2026.

Susiwijono Moegiarso, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, stated that recovery efforts transitioned from emergency response to physical and economic reconstruction after September 20, 2026. The current focus includes rebuilding traditional homes and public facilities, providing utility and safety infrastructure, and restoring the local economy while preserving the village's cultural character.

The reconstruction design was initiated by the InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) with support from the University of Mataram and the local indigenous community. Technical assistance is being provided by the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas. In addition to homes, work has begun on public facilities such as a mosque, museum, and community halls.
