Sadhguru proposes Himalayan Board and pledges relief for Nepal floods

Spiritual leader Sadhguru has called for the establishment of a five-nation Himalayan Board, comprising India, China, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan, to coordinate disaster response in the fragile mountain region. Speaking at an event in Kathmandu, he emphasized that the Himalayas should be treated as a shared ecological system that transcends political boundaries.

In response to the devastating flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, Sadhguru pledged Rs 1 crore to Nepal's Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. The disaster has resulted in thousands of people missing, including 77 participants of the Isha Sacred Walks Kailash Sojourn who were at the Gyirong immigration centre on the Chinese side of the border, as well as three Isha volunteers in Nepal.

According to the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru initially declined requests from the Indian government to evacuate Tibet immediately. He chose to remain to assist in securing land routes for more than 700 Isha members still in the region and to attempt to reach the disaster site. However, the group was unable to access the Gyirong area due to military lockdowns and the lack of official permissions during ongoing search operations.
