Sadıkoğlu urges sale of surplus quake‑damaged premises to Malatya firms

After the 2023 earthquake, commercial spaces in Malatya were rebuilt and allocated through a lottery, yet thousands of businesses remain operating from temporary containers and other provisional sites.

Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu, chairman of the Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reiterated his demand that the surplus premises be sold first to those pre‑quake tenants still in containers, calling the measure a matter of social justice and essential for reviving the city’s economy. He thanked the President, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation and the provincial governor for their support, noted that the chamber has formally written to the authorities, and argued that giving permanent premises to these firms will increase production, create jobs and accelerate Malatya’s economic normalisation.
