Sado Island hosts Ryotsu Tanabata Festival and fireworks

The Ryotsu Tanabata Festival and Kawabiraki celebrations on Sado Island featured traditional folk music and large-scale fireworks displays.

On the first day of the festival, the Great Folk Song Procession showcased performances by the Ryotsu Geigi Mai Preservation Society. The dancers performed traditional pieces such as ‘Sado Okesa’ and ‘Ryotsu Jinju,’ blending the historical elegance of masked dances with expressive, smiling performances.

The second day of the festivities concluded with a major fireworks display. The event included underwater fireworks, large-scale starmines, and massive shells, providing a grand finale to the two-day celebration.
