Chinese manufacturers dominate 62% of global electrified vehicle market
The global and Brazilian automotive markets are undergoing a significant shift toward electrification. In the first half of 2026, six Chinese manufacturers accounted for 62.3% of global electrified vehicle sales, including battery electric and plug-in hybrid models. This expansion is driven by companies like BYD, which are increasing their presence in Europe and Latin America while building local factories to mitigate trade barriers.
In Brazil, the transition is accelerating. By August 2026, electric and hybrid vehicles reached 24.4% of total vehicle registrations, a massive increase compared to the previous year. Interest in new electrified models grew by 17% in the first half of 2026, with hybrid searches remaining high due to infrastructure challenges. This surge is also placing new pressures on residential infrastructure, as condominium owners seek the right to install individual charging stations.
As the European fleet of electric vehicles ages, the aftermarket is also evolving. Major companies are focusing on providing specialized maintenance components and professional training for mechanics to handle new technologies like AI-driven diagnostics and battery extraction tools.
