SAF S.p.A. reduces waste treatment tariffs for the first time in 30 years

For the first time in 30 years, waste treatment tariffs at the Colfelice plant managed by SAF S.p.A. are decreasing. Following a three-year spending review and rationalization process, the Lazio Region has approved the 2024-2025 Financial Economic Plan for the TMB facility without amendments.

The regional administration validated the costs as “complete, coherent, and appropriate,” setting disposal rates at 232.99 euros per ton for 2024 and 239.34 euros per ton for 2025. Because previous billing rates were higher, the 91 member municipalities will receive refunds for the differences.

In addition to the economic shift, SAF reported that as of January 1, 2024, the facility has eliminated landfill disposal, instead directing 100% of treated waste toward material and energy recovery.
