Safaricom updates data bundles and addresses MyOneApp issues

Safaricom has confirmed it updated its data bundle packages following customer dissatisfaction regarding changes to affordable options. A key change includes restricting access to hourly data plans, which are now only available daily between 11:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

The telecommunications company stated the review was necessary to introduce "Pata More" deals, which aim to increase data allocations. These new packages include 250 MB for Ksh 20, 1.5 GB for Ksh 99, and 21.5 GB for Ksh 1,000 monthly.

Additionally, Safaricom addressed technical issues with its MyOneApp platform. Users reported frequent logouts and re-authentication requirements. The company explained that the app's identity verification process, which relies on SIM and mobile data, can trigger lockouts when users switch to Wi-Fi or utilize roaming services. Safaricom acknowledged the poor user experience, particularly for diaspora customers, and stated that engineering teams are working to resolve these authentication problems.
