Safe City traffic monitoring system launched in Debar, North Macedonia
The "Safe City" system is being introduced in the Debar region of North Macedonia to improve traffic control and reduce accidents. Traffic cameras have been installed at multiple points, including the municipal building round‑about, the end of Ilirija boulevard, the road to Struga, and other high‑traffic locations. The equipment is currently undergoing technical testing, and violations are not yet being sanctioned.
Police traffic units will continue enhanced controls with mobile electronic cameras until the system is fully operational. Senior police officer Stefan Dimovski said the program aims to curb speeding, dangerous overtaking and illegal parking, especially as tourist traffic increases, thereby boosting overall road safety for all users.
