Safe cleaning practices: avoid chemical mixing hazards and use effective grout cleaning methods

Home cleaning can cause hidden health risks when products are mixed. Combining bleach with other cleaners or applying natural acids like vinegar over residues from strong chemicals can release harmful gases, leading to headaches, throat irritation and breathing difficulties. Experts advise using a single product per surface, keeping natural acids away from marble or other natural stone, never mixing different cleaners, ensuring good ventilation, and avoiding the belief that more product equals a cleaner result.

For grout and tile cleaning, a simple home‑made paste of baking soda and oxygenated water applied for 10‑15 minutes and brushed with a small brush can remove stubborn grime without harsh chemicals. White vinegar may be used on ceramic surfaces but must be avoided on natural stone. Regular maintenance—drying wet areas, ventilating bathrooms, and limiting bleach use—helps prevent mold, discoloration and surface damage.
