Safety concerns raised over transport vehicles in Peru and Argentina

In Peru, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Crime Prevention has issued an alert regarding an ‘imminent danger’ and ‘risk of explosion’ involving tubular vehicles operating in the Huacachina dunes, Ica. The report states these vehicles are artisanally assembled using used parts and lack engineering controls to ensure stability. Furthermore, the vehicles reportedly use inadequate containers for fuel storage and operate without proper permits or insurance. The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has clarified that it has not authorized these vehicles for tourist transport services.

In Argentina, concerns have been raised in Florencio Varela regarding the safety conditions of a school bus. Observations of a visibly deteriorated and corroded descent door have prompted questions about the effectiveness of municipal inspections. Local regulations require school transport units to possess valid technical inspections, specific insurance, and essential safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and seatbelts to ensure the safety of students.
