SAGA Festival faces scrutiny over media terms and security
The SAGA Festival, held at Bucharest's Arena Națională, is facing scrutiny over strict media accreditation terms. Organizers, including Masiro Travel, have issued agreements stating that media access is a “privilege, not an acquired right.” The terms include provisions allowing organizers to request the correction, withdrawal, or deletion of published materials. Failure to comply within 24 hours can result in the loss of accreditation. While organizers maintain that these clauses do not affect editorial freedom and allow for good-faith journalistic criticism, the terms have drawn attention.
In conjunction with the event, the Bucharest Gendarmerie has announced heightened security measures for the weekend of August 21-23. Authorities will conduct vehicle and person searches around the Arena Națională to prevent the introduction of pyrotechnics or prohibited items. The festival features a diverse lineup, including artists such as Tyga, Nicky Romero, and Subcarpați.
