Sage Arias-Brown charged with murder in fatal stabbing of father on Long Island
Sage Arias-Brown, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of his father, 69-year-old Edward Brown, in Mastic, Long Island. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Labor Day.
Prosecutors allege that Arias-Brown broke into the apartment he once shared with his father and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest and abdomen. Despite his injuries, Edward Brown reportedly managed to reach a phone and call 911 before collapsing. Emergency responders arrived to find him dead at the scene.
Arias-Brown was arrested a short time later on Hawthorne Street. During his arraignment on Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and was remanded without bail. His attorney, Katherine Fernandez, noted that her client has a history of mental illness and is currently facing an unrelated robbery case. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
