Sage Arias-Brown indicted for murder of father on Long Island

Sage Arias-Brown, 33, has been indicted for the murder of his 69-year-old father, Edward Brown, in Mastic, Suffolk County. According to authorities, the attack occurred in the early hours of Sept. 7 in Brown’s studio apartment.

An indictment reveals that Brown managed to place a 911 call during the assault, in which he was heard screaming, “I’m being murdered. What are you doing to me, Sage?” Prosecutors allege that Arias-Brown barged into the apartment and stabbed his father more than 40 times in the torso, chest, and neck.

Arias-Brown was arrested by Suffolk County deputies less than half a mile from the scene shortly after being spotted leaving the apartment. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney described the case as heartbreaking, noting the victim's desperate attempt to call for help during the attack. Arias-Brown was arraigned on Sept. 17 on one count of second-degree murder and is being held without bail. He faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life if convicted.
