Saglemi Housing Project to complete first 700 units by March 2027

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the first 700 units of the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project are expected to be completed and commissioned by March 2027. The government aims to deliver a total of 1,500 units by the end of 2027 as part of an effort to revive the long-delayed development.

To address the project's history of delays and vandalism, the government has partnered with private developer LMI Holdings. Kojo Aduhene, CEO of LMI Holdings, stated that critical infrastructure work is underway, including underground electrical cabling, water supply improvements via a treatment plant at the Dawa Industrial Area, and the provision of internet connectivity.

Former Works and Housing Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah noted that the current progress validates the private-sector participation model initiated during his tenure, which aims to make the project self-financing and sustainable without additional state funds. The project, originally planned as a 5,000-unit estate, has faced years of inactivity and infrastructure theft, including the removal of cables and plumbing fixtures.
