Sagrada Familia's Jesus Tower Blessing Highlighted by Endesa Light Show in Barcelona

The basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona hosted the blessing and inauguration of the new Jesus Tower by Pope Leo XIV. The ceremony featured a music‑and‑light spectacle designed by Igor Cortasdellas, with drones forming Gaudí’s phrase “Primer l’amor, després la técnica” and a live broadcast using the Cinema Live system supplied by Fuji and Sony.

Endesa’s Foundation illuminated the cross crowning the 172.5‑metre tower with an artistic LED installation of 24 light beams, projected onto the city skyline. The lighting system saves an estimated 38 % of energy and avoids about 845 kg of CO₂ emissions per year. The event was attended by the Spanish royal family, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Catalan President Salvador Illa, the cardinal archbishop of Barcelona, and senior Endesa executives, marking a milestone in the 20‑year collaboration between Endesa and the Sagrada Familia.

The ceremony underscored the tower’s status as the world’s highest basilica and highlighted the blend of modern technology with Gaudí’s architectural legacy.
