Saguenay police arrest two suspects in fraud wave
Police in Saguenay, Canada, have arrested two men in their twenties in connection with a wave of ‘fake representative’ fraud. The arrests took place in the Jonquière district following searches of two residences, which led to the discovery of stolen and fraudulent cards.
The suspects may face charges for fraud exceeding $5,000. In this specific scheme, fraudsters contact victims pretending to represent a financial institution and claim a fraudulent transaction has occurred. They then attempt to convince the victim to hand over their bank or credit cards to a supposed representative who visits their home.
