Sahagún to host public hearing on El Niño risks

The Seventh Permanent Constitutional Commission of the Colombian Chamber of Representatives has approved a decentralized public hearing to be held in Sahagún, Córdoba. The hearing was requested by Representative Claudia Romero Nader to address the risks posed by the El Niño phenomenon in the department.

The session aims to establish contingency plans regarding public health, water supply, food security, and social protection during the upcoming dry season. Romero Nader emphasized the need to prioritize vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and rural communities, noting that Sahagún faces historical difficulties with continuous access to potable water.
