Sahara Power begins construction of 12MW plant in Lagos

Sahara Power Enterprise Group (SPEG) has commenced construction of a new 12MW gas-fired Independent Power Plant (IPP) in Lagos, Nigeria. Located within the Ogba Undertaking of Ikeja Electric Plc, the facility is intended to provide more reliable electricity to key industrial and commercial areas, including Ogba, Acme Road, and Wemco Road.

The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027. It will utilize modern gas-fired generating technology with a six-unit configuration designed to maximize reliability and operational flexibility.

Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Enterprise Group, stated that the initiative is a commitment to Nigeria’s energy future, aiming to address pressing challenges in the energy sector by enhancing productivity and supporting economic growth through dependable power access.
