Sahel military leadership updates in Niger and Niamey

Brigadier General Maman Sani Kiou, the Niger Army Land Forces Chief of Staff, has commenced a working mission in the Agadez region. Arriving at Mano Dayak International Airport, he was received by regional Governor Division General Ibra Boulama Issa and other military and administrative officials. The mission aims to inspect troops, strengthen ties with personnel, and consolidate information to combat disinformation following recent events in late August.

In a separate development within the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), Colonel Romaric Toé has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Sahelian Military Medicine Network. During the 2nd Congress of the network held in Niamey, Toé, who serves as the Director of the Army Health Service in Burkina Faso, was designated to lead the network until 2027. The congress focused on sharing experiences and addressing the challenges of military medicine within the Sahelian security context.
