Sahil Ali jailed for 17.5 years for rape and coercive control

Sahil Ali, 21, has been sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison for rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, and threatening to kill a woman. A judge at Guildford Crown Court labeled Ali a dangerous offender.

During the proceedings, the victim provided a statement detailing two years of abuse. She described how Ali used a tracking app to monitor her, controlled her finances, and restricted her contact with family and friends. The victim expressed ongoing fear for her life, stating, “I still get recurring thoughts every single day that he will kill me.”

The abuse came to light in January 2025 after Ali sent messages threatening to cause a scene at the victim's home and sent a photograph of her front door. Following a 999 call, police arrested Ali within 90 minutes while he was still contacting the victim to demand why officers were at her residence.
