Sahuayo and Tianguistenco hold vibrant patron saint festivals in Mexico

The municipality of Sahuayo in Michoacán is hosting its annual Fiestas Patronales in honor of Santiago Apóstol, scheduled to run until August 4. The celebration features a procession of more than three thousand Tlahualil dancers in traditional masks and costumes, cultural presentations, a traveling museum, and a wide array of local food and crafts.

In Tianguistenco, residents marked the 12th traditional cabalgata of their patron saint festivities with over 250 mounted riders, musical bands and horseback displays. Municipal president Erika Olea de la Torre attended the parade, praised the community’s heritage and highlighted the event’s role in strengthening local identity. The town’s program also includes religious ceremonies, a parade of decorated carts, and musical performances over the coming days.
