Saifullah Yusuf outlines three key duties for Sekolah Rakyat principals

Indonesian Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, has outlined three primary responsibilities for the heads of Sekolah Rakyat, a boarding school-based educational institution. During a coordination meeting held via Zoom on September 2, 2026, the Minister emphasized the importance of supervision, compliance, and collaboration.

Regarding supervision, Yusuf stressed that students must be monitored 24 hours a day without compromise to prevent bullying, sexual violence, and intolerance. He suggested utilizing foster parents, dormitory supervisors, and CCTV facilities to ensure student safety.

In terms of compliance, the Minister called for strict adherence to procedures and good governance, specifically demanding financial management free from corruption and conflicts of interest. He also noted that learning and dormitory standards must remain consistent across all Sekolah Rakyat locations.

Finally, Yusuf highlighted the need for stakeholder consolidation, urging school leaders to build strong relationships with local communities, regional governments, and guest teachers to ensure the institution's success.
