State Bank of Vietnam reports stabilizing interest rates and strong credit growth

The State Bank of Vietnam reported that the upward trend in interest rates is slowing down, with rates stabilizing around a new baseline. As of September 20, 2026, the average deposit interest rate for new transactions stood at 6.38% per year, representing a 1.15 percentage point increase compared to the end of 2025.

Despite rising deposit rates, credit growth remains strong. By September 30, 2026, total system credit outstanding reached approximately 20.75 trillion VND, an 11.59% increase from the end of 2025 and a 16.69% increase compared to the same period last year.

The State Bank of Vietnam is maintaining its current operating interest rates to support businesses and citizens. The central bank has also directed credit institutions to stabilize interest rates and increase transparency by publishing lending rates on their websites.
