SAIL documentary premieres at Venice Film Festival

The documentary film ‘SAIL’ was presented at the Venice International Film Festival. Directed by Oscar winners Frank Marshall and Evan Hayes, the film provides unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the 37th America’s Cup, which took place in Barcelona in 2024.

Filmed using IMAX-certified digital cameras positioned on board the vessels, the documentary captures the high-speed action of racing boats capable of exceeding 100 km/h. The production, supported by Skydance Productions, follows the teams from the Louis Vuitton Cup Challenger Selection Series through to the final match against the defender, Emirates Team New Zealand.

Beyond the technical aspects of the sport, ‘SAIL’ focuses on the human element, exploring the intense emotional pressure, personal rivalries, and the psychological toll the competition takes on sailors and their families.
