Sailing photographer Carlo Borlenghi dies at 70
Carlo Borlenghi, the internationally renowned sailing photographer, died on 3 August 2026 at age 70 after a serious health problem. Born in Bellano, Italy, in 1970, he spent four decades documenting major sailing events, including the America’s Cup, Azzurra’s 1983 challenge, Luna Rossa campaigns, the Olympics, and oceanic races such as the Sydney‑Hobart.
Borlenghi founded the Sea&See Italia agency in 1989 and served as the official photographer for the 2007 America’s Cup in Valencia. He received numerous honors, notably the Confindustria Nautica “Pioneer of Nautica” award in 2010 and a presidential commendation from President Giorgio Napolitano in 2007 for his contribution to sailing culture. His work, comprising thousands of images, is credited with shaping the visual narrative of modern sailing worldwide.
