Saint Anthimos of Nicomedia commemorated by Orthodox Church

The Orthodox Church commemorated the feast day of Saint Anthimos, Hieromartyr Bishop of Nicomedia, on September 3. Saint Anthimos was a 3rd-century religious leader who was martyred during the persecutions of Diocletian.

In Alexandroupoli, the commemoration was marked by significant religious festivities honoring the saint, whose name is shared by the local Metropolitan, Anthimos. The celebrations included a multi-hierarchical Vespers service attended by numerous bishops from Greece and abroad, including representatives from the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Local officials and a large number of faithful also attended the services at the Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas.
