Saint Barbara relic to be hosted in New Ionia, Volos

The Holy Relic of Saint Barbara is scheduled to be hosted in New Ionia, Volos, from Wednesday, September 16, to Sunday, September 20, 2026. The relic will be transferred from the Holy Temple of Panagia Episkepseos in Trikala to the Holy Temple of Saint John Damascene, Barbara, and Sophia.

Metropolitan Ignatius of Demetrias and Almyros will officially welcome the relic on September 16 at 18:30. The arrival will include a procession along Paraskevopoulou Street accompanied by the Volos Municipal Philharmonic. The religious program features Hierarchical Vespers, Divine Liturgies, Sacred Paraklesis, and spiritual discourses focusing on family and youth.

The five-day event serves as a period of pilgrimage, offering believers the opportunity for prayer and spiritual strengthening.
