Saint-Bonnet-de-Mure fire station burglarized, rescue equipment stolen
The fire station in Saint-Bonnet-de-Mure, located in the suburbs of Lyon, was burglarized during the night of Sunday, August 9, to Monday, August 10. Perpetrators forced an entrance and a window to gain access to the facility.
Several pieces of road rescue equipment were stolen, specifically tools used for extricating victims from vehicle accidents. The theft of this specialized gear may impact the emergency services' ability to respond to certain interventions where rapid extraction is critical.
Tiffany Joncour, a Member of Parliament for the Rhône's 13th constituency, condemned the act as “revolting” and called for the swift identification and arrest of those responsible. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances of the burglary and recover the stolen equipment.
