Saint Catherine's Monastery celebrates Dormition of the Mother of God

Archbishop Simeon of Sinai, Pharan, and Raithu, alongside the monks of Saint Catherine's Monastery, held Divine Liturgy services on August 27, 2026, to celebrate the Dormition of the Mother of God.

The celebrations included a special service in honor of Saint Catherine at the Church of the Transfiguration, featuring the presence of her holy relics. The event was attended by various high-ranking officials and diplomats, including US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Michael Reigas, US Chargé d'Affaires Robert Silverman, and Yasmin Moussa, Legal Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and representative to the International Court of Justice.

Local representatives also attended, including Ahmed Adel, Director of the South Sinai Antiquities Inspectorate, and Mohamed El-Nenny, Inspector of Antiquities for the Saint Catherine area.
