Saint-Cloud tunnel closure on A13 to cause major traffic disruptions
The Saint-Cloud tunnel on the A13 motorway in France will close in the direction from Paris to the provinces starting November 16, 2026, and is expected to remain closed until late August 2027. The closure is necessary for consolidation work on the north tube to accommodate the tunnel boring machine for the Grand Paris Express Line 15 West.
With approximately 80,000 vehicles passing through the tunnel daily, authorities and local municipalities are preparing for significant congestion. To mitigate the impact, several alternative routes have been suggested, including the RD 907, RD 910, A86, and the A14. Notably, the A14 motorway will be free of charge during weekdays for the duration of the works.
Local residents and commuters in the Yvelines region have expressed concerns regarding increased travel times and saturation on secondary roads like the N118. Recommended alternatives to driving include using the T13 tramway, local bus services, carpooling via dedicated public parking in Bailly, or utilizing remote work options where possible.
