Saint-Cyprien boating accident leaves two dead
A fatal boating accident occurred Tuesday morning off the coast of Saint-Cyprien in the Pyrénées-Orientales region. The incident involved a motorboat towing a high-speed inflatable buoy.
Reports indicate that the boat pilot was ejected from the vessel, causing the boat to lose control and strike passengers on the buoy. At least two people have died: the boat pilot and a female passenger on the towed inflatable. A third person sustained serious injuries, and seven people in total were involved in the accident.
Preliminary observations suggest the boat may have been destabilized by waves, leading to the pilot being thrown from the craft. An investigation into involuntary homicide has been launched and has been assigned to the maritime research brigade of Marseille.
