Saint-Denis faces student protests and new social welfare measures

In Saint-Denis, student protests and unrest have led to the closure of Voillaume High School following episodes of violence. The movement has also spread to Jean Zay High School, where tensions have been noted. Local officials have addressed the situation, with the mayor condemning student violence while distinguishing it from police actions.

On the social policy front, approximately 33,000 social housing units in Seine-Saint-Denis are expected to benefit from a rent freeze. Additionally, the Saint-Denis municipal government and its Communal Center for Social Action (CCAS) continue to implement support measures for low-income residents, including food vouchers to offset rising fuel costs and specialized programs to assist seniors and those seeking employment through zero-interest social loans.
