Saint Dorotheus name day observed on June 5, 2026
On 5 June 2026 the Orthodox Church marks the name day of Saint Dorotheus, the 4th‑century bishop of Tyre. In Bulgaria the Church held a special service recalling his exile under Emperor Diocletian, his return during Constantine’s reign, and his martyrdom under Julian the Apostate. The liturgy highlighted his teachings and quoted his advice: “А кога ви пъдят от един град, бягайте в друг” (“If you are driven out of one city, flee to another”).
A calendar listing from Thailand also noted the same date, reminding people with the names Dorotheus, Dorothea, Dori, Dorina, Dorian, etc., to celebrate with family and friends, wishing “light, love and friendship” for the day.
