Saint-Gobain launches sustainable construction platform in Turkey
Saint-Gobain has launched its global Sustainable Construction Talks platform in Turkey for the first time. Held in Istanbul, the event brought together industry stakeholders, including architects, engineers, academics, and policymakers, to discuss the sector's transition toward sustainable and resilient urban environments.
Murat Savcı, CEO of Saint-Gobain Turkey and President of İMSAD, emphasized that in a country facing significant earthquake risks, creating safe and durable structures is an “unpostponable necessity” rather than a choice. The discussions focused on two primary challenges: earthquake resilience and the climate crisis, highlighting the need for low-carbon construction and energy-efficient cities.
The event featured panels such as “Turkey’s Earthquake Test” and “Turkey’s Climate Test,” involving experts from the Istanbul Technical University and the Turkey Earthquake Foundation. The platform aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable construction by addressing the specific priorities and requirements of different countries.
