Saint Janet, veteran Nigerian Juju singer, laid to rest in Abeokuta

Veteran Nigerian Juju and Highlife singer Iyun Janet Ajilore, widely known as Saint Janet or ‘Mama Yabis’, has been laid to rest at her residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Following a series of memorial services in Lagos, including a candlelight service and an Artists’ Night at the AIT/Faaji FM compound, the singer was buried on Wednesday. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, and prominent musical colleagues, including Gentleman Dele Taiwo.

Saint Janet passed away on August 1, 2026, following a sudden health complication. Her children reported that she had experienced chest pains and breathing difficulties shortly before her death, despite appearing healthy while performing at an event in Sango, Ogun State, the previous night.
