Saint-Joachim town hall receives 256,000 euro anonymous cash donation
The town hall of Saint-Joachim in Loire-Atlantique received an anonymous cash donation of 256,450 euros. The funds, delivered in eight kraft envelopes containing 50 and 100 euro notes, were discovered by municipal employees in the town's mailbox on August 27.
Mayor Raphaël Salaün stated that the donation is intended to fund initiatives to improve the quality of life for elderly residents. An accompanying note explained that the donor, having lived a successful life, chose Saint-Joachim after being reassured by the municipality's financial accounting. This follows a previous large legacy in 2022, where a 93-year-old business leader donated one million euros to the town for a nursing home renovation.
